Art and Air Festival

The annual ARt and Air Festival is scheduled to take place August 26-28 at Timber Linn Memorial Park in Albany.  Entertainment, juried art, food vendors, a car show, night glow and airport activities highlight this event.  Watch hot air balloons lift off each morning promptly at 6:45a.m and be sure not to miss the night glow as balloons tower over the crowd, lighting up the night sky, at dusk on Friday.  Locally-owned Carino' and Red Rpbom are sponsoring the Children's Art Village, a play area for toddlers and pre-schoolers.  Unique craft activities each day with a maze, bubble table, mural painting and young artists selling their creations, are all part of the village.  Located at the south end of Timber Linn Memorial Park near the Veteran's Memorial, the Children's Art Village's tentative schedule is 4-7pm Friday, 10am to 7pm Saturday and Sunday.

Movie Night Under the Stars

On August 27th the Mid-Willamette Family YMCA will host a family movie night under the stars on the baseball diamond.  The fun begins at 8:45 with a free showing of Rio.  Bring blankets, pillows and lawn chairs.  Concessions will be available to purchase for under $1.  Call 541-926-4488.

I love to can salsa and spiced peach jam.  Does anyone know where I can get half bushels of tomatoes and peaches in Corvallis??  I am used to paying no more than $5 for a half bushel of tomatoes and around $8 for a half bushel of peaches...

balloon show at the library today

Today the library is having a balloon show as a fun end to the summer reading program.  It's today at 3:30pm.  Every child will leave with a shaped balloon and they will provide treats and refreshments.  Don't forget picnic in the park today at 11:30!

free crafts at michaels craft store

Last Thursday I happened to need a few things so popped into Michaels.  It just so happened my kids joined right into a free craft.  It happened to be one of the very last "Make It Take It" projects in July but they have a new schedule for August out now that wasn't available the day I was there.  Last month the projects were offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays and I want to say they were from 11-11:30 or so.  If you're interested check it out- I was impressed.  Great way to keep kids occupied while you circle the store once or twice.

.50 cent soft serve ice cream

Our family was driving home from the coast when I saw a sign at the McDonalds in Philomath that reads "cones and pies fifty cents".  We had to pull over and check it out.  Sure enough, it's true.  Soft serve is .50 cents.  You can't beat that!  That's an "everyday" deal they have.  On Saturdays you can get 50 chicken nuggets for 9.99.  Each day of the week they have different deals.
